The female security officer Arlene Liburd who was shot while going to deposit money bags at the Royal Bank of Canada in the Horsford Valu Mart shopping complex on Wellington Road has died bringing the number of murders on St Kitts to three this week and 27 for the year 2016.
Sometime around 7 pm terrified customers in Valu Mart and in the parking area heard gun shots ringing out on a busy shopping Friday night.
Shot several times in their legs and abdomen, were two SL Horsford security guards, husband and wife Arlene and Seymour Liburd who were depositing night bags at the Royal Bank ATM at the Valu Mart complex.
EMS workers arrived on the scene shortly after and both security guards were taken to the JNF hospital where the female security guard had emergency surgery for bullet wounds to the stomach area.
Freedom Fm understands that the female security guard, Arlene Liburd, has died as a result of the gunshot injuries sustained in the robbery. The condition of her husband, Seymour Liburd, the other security guard who was shot in both legs, is not known.
Police secured the crime scene upon arrival as the investigations continue.
It is now known that the daring armed robbers escaped with the deposit bags, but the amount has not been disclosed.
