Member of Parliament for Constituency #3 Konris Maynard is taking the Team Unity Government to task for not repealing the land for debt swap as promised during the Team Unity Government election campaign.
Maynard said both Prime Minister Harris and Ambassador Sam Condor left the SKNLP over this issue saying it was destructive to the peoples’ patrimony.
Maynard told an Issues audience that Team Unity had promised to repeal the land for debt swap during the first 100 days in office.
Maynard said the Team Unity Government has not grasped that such social and economic programmes such as REACH, GRASP and PEP are vital programmes to ensure a thriving and robust economy.
He reiterated that the government lacked vision in not perpetuating these youth oriented programs.
Meanwhile Nevis Reformation Party Senator Carlysle Powell told an issues audience on Thursday that the current NIA administration is not doing anything to help young people in Nevis find jobs.
Powell said the previous NRP government had built 5 community centers and were intricately involved in training programs to empower the youth.
Powell said in education the NRP had provided financial assistance to students at the tertiary level.
The Senator then reflected on what the CCM led administration had done to empower Nevisian youths.
He said apart from political grandstanding, nothing has been done and things were not looking bright.
