A Jamaican woman was arrested on suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at the Norman Manley International Airport on Sunday, the Constabulary’s Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) reported yesterday.
The CCU reported that about 4:15 pm the Narcotics Police were conducting security checks in the departure hall on passengers waiting to board a flight destined for London, England. During the process a female passenger’s luggage was searched and two packages containing approximately 2.5 pounds of cocaine, which has a street value of just over $1 million, were found. She was subsequently arrested, but her name was not released.
Arrangements, the CCU said, were being made for her to be questioned in the presence of her attorneys, after which it is expected that she will be formally charged.
