CMO Dr. Patrick Martin denied reports on social media that he had been fired with immediate effect on Thursday 16th June. Speaking to Freedom Fm Newsdesk on Friday Dr. Martin indicated that he had reached the mandatory age of retirement of age 55 and that while on duty on Thursday at 3pm he had received a letter from the Chief Personnel and Human Resource Manager Tofreda Rochester stating that he should proceed on vacation leave immediately, after which he would be retired from the public service.
Dr Martin said the letter was expected as the new TUG seemed dissatisfied with his work, Martin told Freedom Fm that he had been sent home. However he denied reports that the Minister of Health, the Hon. Eugene Hamilton had not met with him since the government took office in February 2015. The CMO said he had very good relations with Minister Hamilton.
When asked what his agenda would be having been forced to go on vacation leave, the experienced pediatrician said he would continue private practice, attend upcoming sports functions and consider broadcast journalism.
Meanwhile the Chief Personnel and Human Resource Manager, Ms Tofreda Rochester told Freedom Fm Newsdesk on Friday that Dr. Martin had not been terminated but was asked to proceed on accumulated vacation leave.
