The St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party’s Mp for constituency #2, The honourable Marcella Liburd says it is despicable and scandalous that in the year of centennial celebrations for the first national hero, the Right Excellent Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw, that the National Hero ceremony to honor our National Heroes, is being removed from the Bradshaw National Park in St. Pauls, “to and empty piece of land with just dirt on it” in Conaree.
Liburd says this reeks of disrespect and contempt for the legacy of Bradshaw.
She further pointed out that TUG Mp’s Mark Brantley and Eugene Hamilton have been very critical of Mr. Bradshaw in Parliament, and that Ministers Shawn Richards, Lindsay Grant and Vance Amory have never attended a national heroes day tribute for Bradshaw in St. Pauls. Hon. Marcella Liburd speaking on Issues on Wednesday. “Bradshaw would have been 100 on the 16th of September this year. So in the centennial year, you are removing the ceremony from Bradshaw memorial Park, where there is already a statue of Bradshaw to carry it on an empty piece of land with just dirt on it.
Nothing over there, nothing! But you’re going to remove the ceremony in the centennial year to carry it over Conaree on some dirt. This isn’t very contemptuous of Bradshaw, disrespectful of Bradshaw and his legacy. But who is surprised, you’re here with a set of people who Mark Brantley and Eugene Hamilton both in parliament since his government has changed, said all sort of things about Bradshaw right in the presence of Timothy Harris who said he and Sam condor was the only Bradshaw people. when they left the government just to fool people. this year in Bradshaw centennial year… if it’s one time its supposed to be this year, Bradshaw’s centennial year. ”
Meanwhile on Face book a petition is being circulated against the government moving the national heroes park to Conaree where citizens are being asked to let their voices be heard on this matter.
