NRP Senator Carlyle Powell speaking on Freedom Fm’s Issues on Tuesday, and responding to a question posed by host Maurice Ek Flaunders as to whether Nevisians were better off under the Unity arrangement, responded that Premier Vance Amory and Deputy Premier Mark Brantley, “were infinitely better off.”
“They are getting double travelling, double telephone allowance, double every allowance and double salaries… they are better off,” said Powell. “What about the poor fellow in Brownhill, the fellow up in Rawlins who has a child going back to school next week Monday who has no money to buy his first former a laptop, is that child better off? What about the couple hundred children in Nevis who will be going to first form for the first time and who under Labour and NRP would have had a laptop” stated Powell.
The NRP Senator pointed out that CXC will be going online in 2017/2018. He stressed that students would be underprepared because they lacked the requisite tools.
