Police have recorded a number of arrest and have laid charges for several recent cases of criminal activity in the Federation.
Hakeem Frederick of Farm Site, Sandy Point has been arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of attempted murder, and three (3) charges of shooting at with intent stemming from a Wednesday (March 01) shooting incident in Mount Idle, Sandy Point.
Also charged are Hakeem Mills of Crab Hill, Sandy Point and Omari Frederick of Farms Site, Sandy Point. Mills and Frederick were charged with the offences of attempted murder, and three (3) charges of shooting at with intent.
Hakeem Mills was also charged with the offence of attempted murder and shooting at with intent stemming from a Saturday (March 4) shooting incident in Farms Housing Development in Sandy Point, when he allegedly shot at the home of an area resident.
One individual was arrested and charged for a recent offence of rape, and for the offence of burglary. The incidents occurred in January 2017.
Clive “Shanty” Edwards of Taylors Village was arrested and charged for the offence of murder, the incident occurred on Friday (March 10) in Taylors Village.
Head of the Crime Directorate, ACP Andre Mitchell said, “I commend the men of the Violent Crimes Unit, the Forensic Services Unit, the Special Victims Unit and the Officers of Division “B” for building these cases so far. Their teamwork and thoroughness must be commended.” He added, “the continued forging of relationships with the communities is yielding the results to enhance citizen safety.”
ACP Mitchell also stressed, “it is time for parents and other family members to engage our young people and encourage them to find sensible ways of settling disputes, and also to turn away from a life of crime.”
