Henley & Partners is threatening legal action against a blogger who recently alleged that one of the company’s officials solicited monies from a businessman in exchange for a diplomatic passport from an Eastern Caribbean country.
Responding to questions posed by OBSERVER media via email, the company described the blog as “fake news.” Last week, Rijock blogspot allegedly that a Managing Director of Henley & Partners solicited one million dollars from a European businessman for a diplomatic passport from Grenada. The blog also made reference to Antigua and Barbuda which has a Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP).
Henley & Partners is the main Residence and Citizenship Planning agency in the Eastern Caribbean and it handles transactions for applicants to Antigua and Barbuda’s CIP. The company told OBSERVER media, “Henley & Partners, Christopher Willis, and the Government of Grenada as well as the Government of Antigua and Barbuda have each confirmed in separate statements that the allegations concerning the ‘sale’ of diplomatic passports made by…blogger Kenneth Rijock are completely false.” T
he company added, “This fake news matter has now been referred to major law firms in the United States, Canada, and England, and to forensic intelligence specialists who are investigating the case.”
