Trump’s first tweet after Jacksonville shooting ignores tragedy to rant about Obama ‘being given credit for his accomplishments’

Donald Trump’s first tweet after the Jacksonville tragedy has completely ignored the mass shooting – and instead moans about Barack Obama ‘being given credit for his achievements’.

Four people have been killed after a gunman opened fire at a Madden tournament in the Florida city.

But Trump, who has been briefed on the mass shooting according to his press secretary Sarah Sanders, chose to tweet an extract from news site the Washington Times.

The 45th president is apparently unhappy that his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama is getting praise for the growing economy.

The extract he tweeted reads: “Mainstream Media tries to rewrite history to credit Obama for Trump accomplishments.

“Since President Trump took office, the economy is booming. The stronger the economy gets, the more desperate his critics are. O had weakest recovery since Great Depression.”

Jacksonville shooting: Witnesses describe terrifying moment ‘disgruntled gamer’ opened fire as people hid for their lives

It dates from August 14 but Trump tweeted it today, August 26.

The Republican president has spent the weekend at one of his golf resorts and has faced criticism for his apparently half-hearted reaction to the death of United States legend John McCain, who had been critical of him.

The investigation into the shooting in Jacksonville is continuing although police have not identified the shooter at this stage.

Footage shows two young men playing in the Madden Championship Series when suddenly shots can be heard in the background.

The stream cuts out, but the audio is still live and people can be heard screaming out in pain in the background.
