The Nevis Reformation Party’s (NRP) Federal representative Patrice Nisbett says the imposition of the current lock down and Sate of Emergency could cause the small business sector in the Federation to collapse.
Speaking on FreedomFM’s Issues on Tuesday with host Andre Huie, Nisbett responded to a question from a caller relating to the demise of small businesses in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
He reminded of financial programmes instituted under the then NRP Administration.
“The NRP was apart of a government that without even a situation like this, we were able to give a stimulus package to our small business sector,” he said.
“We were able to introduce programs such as the SEED (Small Entrepreneur and Enterprise Development), the SAFE (Supporting Advancement of Further Education), [and] the WISE (Women In Small Enterprise)- these were programs that were geared towards the development, the recapitalization [of small businesses] – ensuring that the small business sector had access to capital. And so, these are programmes that again would be incorporated into whatever stimulus the Nevis Reformation Party will afford tot he small businesses sector, he said.
