Minister with responsibility for Education, the Hon. Jonel Powell says he is confident that public schools on St Kitts will safely be reopened on September 7th, 2020. The federation’s schools were abruptly closed in March after the country recorded it’s first cases of Covid 19. Subsequently there were efforts made to facilitate virtual education via E-learning platforms.
During a national broadcast on Thursday explained that the task of educating the nation’s children in the face of the Covid 19 pandemic although complex is not impossible.
The Minister noted that as schools begin face to face instruction in September, some schools will begin on a shift system. According to the Minster Powell this decision was taken as it is critical to ensure that the ratio of student population to the size of the physical plant is in keeping with social and physical distancing protocols.
