Police are investigating the discovery of a vessel containing dead bodies found drifting between one of Grenada’s sister islands Carriacou, and Union Island yesterday.
The gruesome discovery was made by a fisherman from Petite Martinique. In a video posted to social media, the bodies appeared to be decomposed.
The boat was towed to Carriacou last night. Reports indicate about seven bodies were found in the boat. They remain unidentified at this time.
This is not the first time that vessels with dead bodies have been found drifting in the Caribbean.
In May, a boat with 15 dead bodies linked to Mauritania was found drifting off the waters of Tobago.
In July, a boat with 20 dead people was found drifting off the waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands near Grand Turk Island. That vessel was also believed to have possibly originated from the West coast of Africa.
