On Monday 19th January the Federation’s Full-Service Telecommunications Provider LIME formally handed over tennis equipment in a brief ceremony at the
Warner Park Tennis Complex.
The equipment valued at over $2,000 included 30 junior rackets, 100 balls and 2 ball hoppers, which will all be utilized in the advancement of the Department of Sports Tennis program across the primary schools in St. Kitts.
LIME’s Marketing & Corporate Communications Manager Mr. Kevin Edwards in making the presentation expressed his company’s firm commitment to advancement of our youth through programs such as this one. Mr. Edwards stated, “LIME’s mission is to understand and deliver to our communities. Today we are extremely proud to have donated this equipment to the Department of Sports. We at LIME are not only proud to partner with the Department of Sports, but also applaud the Department for endeavoring to develop additional sporting avenues for our youth beyond the traditional track”.
Sports Officer Leroy Saunders, who was present at the handover ceremony received commendations for initiating the project. An elated Mr. Saunders stated, “Tennis is my passion and so I am passionate about passing on what I’ve learned. This equipment would help tremendously with the delivery of the sport to the young children. To LIME I must express my heartfelt thanks”.
Sports Officer Ms. Antoinette Henry accepted the equipment on behalf of the Department of Sports and expressed her deep appreciation to LIME and to Mr. Edwards for partnering with the Department of Sports in this endeavour. Also present were student-athletes from the Deane-Glasford Primary to accept and share in the ceremony.
