Hitters is Back !! After a number of season’s the Hitters are back in the SKNABA Finals. The #6 Seeded Hitters booked their spot in the finals after an upset series victory over the #2 Seeded Fig Tree Revellers at Basketball City on Thursday evening.
Another large crowd of mostly Fig Tree fans came out to witness the match-up between the two former champions. Fig Tree got off to a good start and ended the first quarter up 30-29. However Hitters responded with a surge in the 2nd quarter to take a comfortable 57-47 lead. The 3rd quarter was more of the same as the much younger Hitters were able execute at a much higher level than their much older opponents who seemed worn and beat . The 3rd quarter ended with Hitters up 78-70. Fig Tree made a last quarter run and closed the lead and came within 4 points of the Hitters before Tamboura Caines received a technical foul and totally reversed the momentum of the Fig Tree. It was all down hill for Fig Tree from that point onwards.
The game ended with 111-99 victory for Hitters. Daryl Lewis Led the way for Hitters with 25 pts, 6 rebs , 5 assists. He was supported well by Duane Willock who had 21 pts and 14 rebs.
Fig Tree’ s Ray “Lomax” Liddie led all scorers with an amazing 38 pts. George Goolay Gaton had 21 pts, 5 rebs and 7 assists .
The stage is now set for an EPIC Finals Series between the Kittitian Hill St.Pauls Tuff Knots and the RAMS Hitters . Finals begins on Sunday August 30th at Basketball City. St.Pauls will be seeking to be the first community in decades to win both the Football and Basketball Championships while Hitters will be going for their 20th SKNABA Title.
