One month after its launch in St Kitts and Nevis, passengers of Phoenix Airways complain of poor service and cancelled flights. On Thursday morning Freedom Fm spoke to Dorsil Browne a displeased passenger.
Mr brown gave an account about his experience with Phoenix Airways and a conversation with the CEO of the airline Mr Neville Gumbs.
Phoenix Airways has since postponed the fight services to Aruba, Barbados and Santo Domingo has been suspended until November 1st.
A statement from the company said, “For the past two weeks, our services have been canceled due to insufficient passenger load. This decision was made to safeguard the reputation of the company and its partners.”
Management calls on the local Government and tourism board to take a look into this matter. Additionally, this would not be the first time in the history of St. Kitts that airlines have had to pull out due to load count. Delta Airlines and US Airways both experienced this challenge in the beginning of their operations. Both airlines now service the federation seasonally. US Airways operates every Saturday and Delta is expected to return in October 2014.
When asked about their interest in St. Kitts & Nevis, the company said, “Phoenix Airways has not lost interest in St. Kitts and Nevis, but we are unable to provide services with low counts. The service has been suspended until November 1st; hopefully by then the issue will be resolved. We encourage our customers who wish to travel to Santo Domingo, Barbados and Aruba to book their flights in advance.” In addition, Phoenix plans on offering discounts on flights to these locations to encourage persons to fly with us.
Our services to Anguilla, Antigua, Dominica, St. Maarten & Tortola continues. Effective Sept 1st, we commence our services to San Juan, nonstop from St. Kitts.
