Douglas-1Former Prime minister and Minister of National Security and Parliamentary Opposition Leader Dr. Denzil Douglas speaking to Freedom Fm’s Newsdesk on Tuesday about the decision taken by the Unity Government to bring in the FBI to fight crime, said that he welcomes the decision to bring in the FBI.

Douglas said that very little had been done by Prime Minister Harris to fight in particular gun related crime and that more and more criminal activities have taken place since the Unity Government took office. Douglas said that no one has a monopoly on crime and that it was the responsibility of all stakeholders in the community – not just the government and the police- but that Unity in opposition had politicized crime saying it was ”Douglas government fault”.

Specifically addressing the FBI issue, Douglas said it was clear the government had failed to deal with the rising criminal activities taking place in SKN. He said Prime Minister Harris had thrown up his hands in defeat, acknowledging that he could not handle the situation.
