Two employees of the St. Kitts-Nevis Anguilla National Bank Ms Diane Williams-Humphreys and Tamiela Demming have been terminated effective Thursday December 5th, 2015.
Speaking to Freedom Fm Newsdesk on Friday Ms. Williams-Humphreys said they were fired on political grounds by the National Bank because of their support for the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party. She further revealed that she was employed by the Bank for 8 years and that her last position was that of Senior Manager Private banking.
Although governed by a code of ethics Ms Humphreys-Williams said she was not at liberty to say much on the reasons given for the termination. However she indicated the alleged infraction over which they were dismissed had occurred at the bank before, but that on this occasion investigative protocols were not followed.
She revealed that they were given the option to resign but they had not taken that option as they had done nothing wrong.Humphreys-Williams said she still loved her former place of employment but her dismissal from National was “politically motivated”.
She said as a single mother being fired at this Christmas time was particularly stressful. . “You may take my job, you may take bread out of the mouths of my children but you can never take my education out of my head and you can NEVER break my spirit’, said the former bank employee.
Meanwhile the SKNLP parliamentary representative for #8, Dr Terrance Drew speaking to Freedom Fm on Friday, condemned the the dismissal of both National Bank employees as further evidence of a witch-hunt against SKNLP supporters in both public and private sector institutions. Drew declared that it was nothing but wanton discrimination and victimization by the Team Unity Government against 2 single mothers who support the Labour Party.
Freedom Fm tried in vain to contact the Bank’s CEO Ms. Di ane Williams and the Board Chairman Howard Mc Eckchrane for comments but up until newstime neither had returned calls.
In a recent edition of the governments’weekly talk show Working For You AG Vincent Byron had indicated that his government was not victimizing any SKNLP supporters and that the Team Unity government had put an end to political tribalism.
