Former St George MP, and opposition United Progressive Party senator, Dr Jacqui Quinn announced her intention to sue three parties whom she has accused of slandering her name.
In a release last evening, Dr Quinn said she has instructed her attorney to institute the appropriate proceedings for relief against government’s Chief of Staff Lionel “Max” Hurst, the government of Antigua & Barbuda and OBSERVER Radio.
The following is Dr Quinn’s full statement, which was emailed to OBSERVER media last night.
“It was brought to my attention that on Thursday 03rd December, 2015, I was defamed and slandered and referred to as a ‘criminal’ by the government’s Chief of Staff, Lionel Max Hurst. In a broadcast on Observer AM.
“Mr Hurst told the Nation that a bus donated to the community of St George in trust to me as MP of St George “was converted to private property…and this conversion is criminal”. Mr Hurst also indicated that the government “has turned over the papers to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.”
“On Tuesday 8th December, clearly acting on instruction from the Executive, the Police wrecker removed the bus ‘St Georges Express’ from where it was parked close to the home of the mechanic and towed it to the Government motor pool.
