Chairman of the SKNLP and parliamentary rep for constituency number 2 the Honorable Marcella Liburd is taking the Team Unity Government to task over what she terms are political arrangements disguised as budgetary support.
Liburd maintained that the former SKNLP administration was in favor of financial support for Nevis but questioned the exact figures that qualified as budgetary support.
She indicated that the figure had been given as $15 million by Prime Minister Harris and $25 million by Premier of Nevis, Vance Amory.
Liburd referred to this fair share arrangement as having political designs.
According to Member of Parliament Liburd, Dr Harris was ensuring that CCM’s Vance Amory and Mark Brantley would be politically aligned to him, as he did not trust the support of the PAM section in the Unity triad.
Member of Parliament Liburd recalled that back in 2007-08 Premier Amory had requested and pulled out of the “fair share” arrangement between St. Kitts and Nevis.
