The matter in which former government minister Dwyer Astaphan is taking the Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas and Freedom Fm to court for broadcasting alleged defamatory remarks, came up for case management at the High Court in Basseterre on Monday 12th January 2015.
Astaphan claims that Prime Minister Douglas issued alleged defamatory remarks on Freedom Fm’s popular talk show Good Morning St. Kitts-Nevis in July 2013, hosted by Lennox Linton.
Astaphan further alleges that additional defamatory statements were made by Prime Minister Douglas at a public meeting on Bank street on the same date in 2013.
At the case management hearing on Monday, the learner judge advised both parties to seek mediation within 90 days in an attempt to have this matter resolved without recourse to litigation.
