The local track association has given its President Val Henry and General Secretary Keithly Phillip the boot.
According to reports from sources in the know, the member clubs moved motions of no confidence against Henry and Phillip in accordance with the Association’s constitution.
A special general meeting was held on Saturday and eight clubs reportedly voted in favor of ousting the President and General Secretary.
This follows an emergency meeting held two weeks prior where club representatives ventilated several concerns and expressed their displeasure with Henry’s leadership and the direction the Association had taken since his election to the post.
One insider told Freedom FM that it was widely opined that Henry and Phillip were running the Association according to their whims and not in consultation with the Executive.
There had been early rumblings in the Association when less than two years after the installation of the Executive led by Henry, the Vice President and Public relations officer resigned early in 2019.
The Executive Committee had been elected in December 2017 to serve for four years.
St. Kitts and Nevis Athletics has not made any public announcement regarding this turn of events and when solicited for comment Monday morning, Henry said he had “absolutely no comment to make”.
Freedom FM understands than an emergency election will have to be held to elect a new executive committee.
