Duncan “Big Lice” Wattley, CFBC lecturer and veteran calypsonian said on Freedom Fm’s ISSUES on Monday that politics has changed and that our society has progressed from the colonial days.
Wattley said gone are the days when nationals had no rights to an era now when party supporters were outspoken and frank aboiut their rights and responsibilities.
Responding to a question about his expectations to receive a big political appointment based on his ongoing support for the newly elected TUG, Duncan said that he can contribute to the present government and would have opted for a “political appointment” to be a part of the change, as he had been through the trenches for the Unity government as calypsonian, supporter of Team Unity, talk show host and educator.
Speaking on the issue of the 2014-2015 budget, Wattley charged that the the previous administration had no money allocated in the 2015 budget for the hosting of CARIFTA and the Annual St. Kitts Music Festival.
Then when challenged on whether there was any allocation in the budget to provide Nevis a total of $15 Million in two tranches since Team Unity took office in February, he declared that the money was borrowed. Duncan maintained that the Unity government would have their budget ready in December for 2016, and used the SKNLP administration budget while they organized themselves as a new govt taking office.
