Last weekend saw the closing events of Black San’ Bang-a-Lang with an outpouring of hundreds on the streets of Sandy Point to get their last chance to enjoy the famous festival until next year. Special recognition is given to the various sponsors, sub-committees, judges, contestants, performers, musicians, mas camps , vendors, security forces, media, participants and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis who were all instrumental in making the 5th anniversary a success.
“BLACK SAN’ is built on the idea of contributing to the overall promotion of the country’s tourism product. We aim to provide a platform to showcase Sandy Point to a broad cross-section of potential visitors. A product with a strong emphasis on community pride, culture and creativity that would continue to satisfy our patrons as they come to experience first hand ‘a cultural fete at Belle Tête!” said Amos Francis- 5Star Fete Chairman
A special ‘thank you’ is also extended to all returning nationals and visitors to our shores who were a part of BSB 2K15 enjoying it’s music, mas and revelry. We salute all winners in the various competitions, and applaud your participation.
SPIRIT also extends sincere gratitude to the Royal St. Christopher & Nevis Police Force and all other security agencies, particularly Division ‘B’, for their visible presence at all the events, ensuring that the festival was not marred by any major incidents. The Emergency Medical Services also came in for high praise for being on stand-by and for providing on-sight support for a number of events.
Partnership with a number of key government Departments also played a great part in ensuring the festival’s success. SPIRIT wishes to thank the Ministry of Agriculture, The Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture, Ministry of Gender Affairs, the Public Works Department, the Ministry of Tourism, SCASPA and the Department of Community and Social Development, for their support and close partnership throughout the festival.
“The production of Black San Bang A Lang re-quires the coordination of several crews and committees, a testament to the ability of the community to come together to achieve extraordinary goals – beyond our singular hopes. We believe that the festival helps to reinforce the spirit of oneness, year after year!” said Francis.
