Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz were dethroned as champions of the Caribbean when they went down 1-2 to minnows Curacao in the final of the Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup at the Stade Pierre Aliker here a short while ago.
Elson Hooi got a double in the 10th and 81st minutes to propel the Dutch-speaking island to victory, while substitute Rosario Harriott got Jamaica’s equaliser.
It was the first time that Curacao are winning the title, while Jamaica were hunting title number seven.
Both teams will meet again in Group C of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA on July 7, in San Diego, California.
