Freedom Fm understands Walwyn was not forced to leave, but made the request on his own volition. On facebook a picture was displayed showing Walwyn on a plane heading back to the USA on Monday.
Speculation has been rampant that the new government of National Unity will replace the Top Cop. Several of its members have repeatedly called for his resignation over the past three years. They claim the Commissioner was politically aligned with the Dr. Denzil Douglas-led Labour Party and acted unprofessionally and with hostility towards the then Opposition Team Unity.
Walwyn was appointed by the Douglas administration in September 2011. After three years at the helm of the Police Force, his contract was renewed in 2014, reportedly for another 3 years. Before taking up the job in St. Kitts, Walwyn was a Deputy Sheriff in Orange County, Orlando, Florida.
Meanwhile there is much speculation as to who would replace Walwyn and become the next COP for SKN. On fb there is growing support for Deputy Commissioner Ian Queeley and retired Assistant Commissioner Joseph Liburd .
