The Basseterre High School issue continues to dominate national headline in St. Kitts-Nevis with the Team Unity Government abandoning what has been termed a contaminated building and the opposition St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party calling for a return to the Basseterre High School declared ready for occupancy be regional and international scientists.
Since the splintering of the school to various buildings close to the original school, parents have been calling on the Team Unity Government to do something about the quality of education received by their children in crowded classrooms, noise and heat levels, sharing bathrooms and health concerns.
On Wednesday’s edition of “Issues”, St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party representative for Constituency #3 Konris Maynard indicated that he and Dr. Douglas had visited the satellite classrooms of the Basseterre High School to get firsthand how students and parents were settling in their new environment.
However on the inaugural edition of the Team Unity Government/ St. Kitts-Nevis Information Service talk show “Working for You”, a caller asked Prime Minister Harris if he was aware of the visit made by the Former Prime Minister Douglas and elected representative for Constituency #3 Konris Maynard to the Basseterre High School classrooms. Prime Minister Harris said he was not aware but would alert the Ministry of education.
