Former Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas told Freedom Fm Newsdesk on Thursday that the present economic boom in construction, and International Monetary Fund prediction for continued economic growth in St. Kitts-Nevis, is due in large measure to the plans and projects put in place by the Labour Administration.
At a press conference held on Tuesday by Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Honorable Timothy Harris, the economy of St. Kitts-Nevis was described as buoyant and best in the Caribbean.
Meanwhile on Wednesday’s government program and state owned media ZIZ, Minister of Tourism & International Trade and Commerce, Honorable Lindsay Grant said what was happening in the country was part of the government’s prosperity agenda and fair share for all.
Grant highlighted the thrust is cruise tourism and said the 4 hotels would be opening shortly i.e. between now and 2020.
But on Thursday morning the former Prime Minister said the significant economic turnaround was all due to the foresight, planning and implementation by his SKNLP government.
Douglas said for their part, the Team Unity Government had initiated not any new hotel development and were using the budget presented by the Labur Party on December 2014 a budget which was termed illegal by the Team Unity Government when in opposition.
