Former Minister of Communications, Works and Energy Dr. Earl Asim Martin is taking both the current Energy minister the Hon Ian Patches Liburd and Hon Dr. Timothy Harris to task for what he termed deception in terms of projects started by the SKNLP administration, and the TUG taking credit for such projects.
Responding to a caller during Wednesday’s edition of Issues on Freedom FM, Martin assured that he understands continuity in government, but pointed out that the scheduled opening of the Timothy Hill Tunnel which was started by the Labour government in 2013 was soundly criticized by the then team Unity opposition. Martin said that there is not one identifiable project over the past 15 months that was started by the TUG.
Martin indicated that one of the campaign promises made by the TUG was a reduction in electricity rates. He said in spite of a decline in fuel and energy costs, customers in St.Kitts were not feeling any reduction in electricity rates. Martin further urged Pm Harris to return from his joyriding adventure to Taiwan and deal with the problems faced by RBC customers who are now closing down their accounts as a result of the imposition of a monthly $25 levy plus vat.
