Caretaker and SKNLP Representative for Constituency #7 Dr Terrance Drew says the Team Unity Government has failed to live up to its promises for transparency, accountability and good governance. Speaking on Freedom Fm’s Issues on Wednesday, Dr Drew indicated that while in Opposition the Team Unity made a variety of promises which remain unfulfilled three years after taking office. He said the electorate was taking note of these dire shortcomings.
“On the issue of nepotism in less than three years, we see family members, close family members of the Prime Minister in may top positions- one his brother who is in charge of the Development Bank… his family member who is Chairman for National Bank; his sister who is the Registrar; his other sister the Magistrate; a brother who is Chief Jailer of the multiple boards that they are on.
Drew highlighted that the Harris Family was now in the “trucking business, the CBI business, the renting tents, water, ice, security, landscaping, trucking and construction business… I mean, even the CBI they are involved in… this have never happened in St Kitts-Nevis before… Even in health in the MRI and the CV Scan, they (the Harris family) are involved in all of this,” pointed out Dr Drew.
Dr Drew remarked that this had never happened in the SKNLP Administration and that it will never happen when Labour regains power in the upcoming general election and constitutionally due by 2020. He pointed out that the economy had shrink from a robust 7% in 2014, to 2% in 2017 under the Team Unity Government.
