Christopher Martin held a listening session for his album Big Deal, at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston Wednesday evening.
Big Deal was released February 10 by VP Music Group Inc. It has songs produced by ZJ Chrome, Chimney Records, Troyton Music, Sting International, Tarik “Rvssian” Johnston, and Clive Hunt.
Guests listened to tracks through headphones, while Martin also performed a few songs.
“I think it’s an awesome album. It means a lot to my friends and family. It means a lot to people I trust to give me constructive criticism. I’m so happy and proud of this body of work,” Martin told Splash.
He pointed to his personal favourites on the 17-track set.
“
Magic showcases a different side to Christopher Martin. It’s a very sexy song and it’s a song that evokes certain moods.
Better Than The Stars and Easy Like Sunday Morning are also among my favourites,” he said.
Big Deal is Martin’s first worldwide release. In 2011 his self-titled debut was released in Japan.
Busy Signal, New York-based Destiny Moriah, Chip, and Tanto Blacks are artistes on Big Deal.
Shaun “ZJ Chrome” Chablal, who produced two songs on the album, spoke about working with Martin.
“It was fun. We’ve been working since 2009 and some of the tracks are on the album. He’s one of the best artistes I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen him grow to the level of a true professional,” said Chablal.
David Hale of Chimney Records also commented on collaborating with Martin.
“Our experience working with him is pretty natural. We usually end up with some good work.”
Chimney Records produced the tracks Pirate Of The Caribbean and Easy Like Sunday Morning.
