The question of a succession plan for leadership of the Concern Citizens movement was addressed by former Nevis Premier Joseph Parry, speaking on Freedom Fm’s Issues program on Tuesday.
In recent St. Kitts-Nevis Observer editorial, Ken Williams writes that current CCM Leader, Nevis Premier Vance Amory is looking for a successor to replace him as the CCM leader following a meeting in Gingerland.
According to Williams no date has been set nor has anyone in the CCM been selected. Williams however is urging Premier Amory to hold on for another term and to contest the 2017 local elections. CCM’s Deputy Premier Mark Brantley in line to replace Amory as leader is seen as “boastful, selfish and full of himself and using people as a means to an end”.
Freedom Fm asked the NRP Leader his thoughts on the CCM succession plan. Parry indicated that it was clear that in terms of a CCM succession Honorable Brantley would have been the frontrunner. Mr. Parry pointed out that while there is confusion and greed in the NIA led government, there is success and achievement that the NRP and Nevisians can be proud about. Parry pointed out that both Mr. Amory and Brantley have abandoned Nevis and given up the fight for independence and autonomy of Nevis.
