Former Pm of SKN now Opposition Leader DR. Denzil Douglas commenting on the McKnight shooting on Thursday night resulting in the death of Cleon Gilbert of Cayon and Kyle Allen of Thibou Avenue, said it is clear that the Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr Timothy Harris is clueless in a solution to the rampaging crime In the federation.
Dr Douglas recalled that this week has been filled with 7 shooting incidents and indicated that the Tug was elected on a mandate to resolve crime and had placed it as their top priority when taking office some 18 months ago.
While extending condolences to the families, the MP for Constituency #6 said that the time had come for a proactive approach to the resolution of crime, in particular of gun related crimes. Meanwhile the Mp for constituency #2 Marcella Liburd told Freedom Newsdesk on Friday Morning that as a mother and parliamentary representative for Mc Knight area urged nationals of SKN to pray for the youth in our federation and called on nationals to support the police in the fight against crime.
The MP for the area offered her condolences for the families and her constituency of this time of grief and sadness. Freedom Fm contacted the office of PM Dr Timothy Harris and told he was off island along with deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards and minister of works Ian Patches Liburd. A call to the office of the acting minister of National Security Mark Brantly who promised a press release on this week of violent crimes and death, had not been received up to press time.
