Former Press Secretary to the PM the Hon Dr Timothy Harris, Chairman of the Peoples Labour Party and brother of the current Ambassador to the USA, Mr Clecton Phillip is taking the Team Unity led government of Dr Timothy Harris to task for what he sees as corruptive practices,conflict of interests, greed and incompetence. Phillip wonderered aloud why Team Unity continues to underperform, dismay and fail the people whom they sold on CHANGE. You should also be consumed with the hypocrisy of the members of the Team Unity cabinet who continue to govern in the same manner that Douglas’ SKNLP did and in some cases, as many claim, even worse.
Writing on the SKN List media blog the former press secretary said “It is just a matter of time before you jump off the train of the proliferating unpopular, inept and incompetent Team Unity administration, led by Dr. Timothy S. Harris and characterised by unambiguous internecine fighting that has the ship of state drifting aimlessly.
” Phillip wrote that as an an example of the Team Unity Government duplicity and corruption cited that …as far back as the early 1990s, the SKNLP led by Dr. Douglas and of which Dr. Timothy S. Harris was a key platform speaker, campaigned against and criticised the PAM administration for ostensibly allowing Richard Caines to rent his vehicles to the government, whilst he was a Junior Minister and cabinet member in the same (PAM) administration.
Fast forward more than a quarter century and the people of SKN cannot get an answer from Dr. Timothy S. Harris to the question of who owns T&S Rentals, the vehicle rental company that is ostensibly renting vehicles to the Ministry of National Security, over which (Ministry) Dr. Timothy S. Harris has responsibility!
“Whilst we are dealing with “forensic enquiries”, inquiring minds want to know the name(s) of the owner(s) of T&S Rentals, a vehicle rental company whose cars are seen regularly (in Basseterre) being driven and utilised by members of the Police force and the Defence force, agencies of the Ministry of National Security. Perhaps Dr. Timothy Sylvester Harris can use his good offices as Minister of Finance and also Minister of National Security and reveal in the public’s interest, preferably before he addresses the nation on the state of affairs at Kittitian Hill and Christophe Harbour, what the “T” and “S” in T&S Rentals stand for.”
The Chairman of the PLP was also highly critical of the 2 salaries received by Nevis Premier Hon Vance Amory and his Deputy Premier the Hon Mark Brantley saying that this was not the paradigm shift that was promised to voters. “When you have time, I suggest you should also engage yourself, consciously, with the moral question as it relates to two Team Unity Cabinet members getting two full-time monthly salaries for doing two (clearly) part-time jobs.
And whilst I can hear you swallow the false argument, promulgated by the conflicted ones, that the constitution allows for it, I would accept the proposition that the constitution allows for a member of the Nevis Island Assembly to be (simultaneously) a member of the Federal parliament, but here is the critical point, I also accept the reasoning that the constitution does not and cannot make practical and possible what is impractical and impossible. And it is impractical and impossible for any mortal being to sincerely perform a full-time job as an executive member of the Nevis Island government and honestly (simultaneously) perform a full-time job as an executive member of the Federal government.
