“The greatest responsibility of any government is to ensure that its people are educated,” says Dr. Kelvin Daly
Charlestown,Nevis (Tuesday, August 16, 2016) Former Clarence Fritzroy Bryant College (CFBC) President Dr. Kelvin Daly told the full house of the 2016 Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) convention, that the government has fallen short of uplifting education in Nevis. He said, “It is well known that once we solve education, we can solve crime.”
The convention was held on Sunday, August 14th at the Jessup’s community center under the theme, “NRP! Redefining Independence and Economic Prosperity for Nevis!”
During the convention, Dr. Daly challenged Premier of Nevis and Minister of Education, Hon, Vance Amory with “his poor leadership and incompetent policies on Education” that education on Nevis must be of top priority!
Daly said Nevisians are known for their progress and fortitude. However, he said it is time that Nevis has real dialogue on education with follow up action.
“The simple paper of a diploma is a ticket to a better life of progress and a better job. That is why I worked hard as President of CFBC to ensure all nine technical programs at the college got accredited, so that students would be empowered and excel,” Daly commented.
He used the opportunity to inform the audience that he was terminated as President of CFBC by a couple of traitors in the Federal government. He told listeners that, “When you are getting a double salary it only becomes a question of how high you are going to jump”
Daly applauded Mr. Hugh Charles, stating that, Mr. Charles used his expertise, financial resources and time to teach students electrical studies. Daly noted that,” Nevis could use a couple more Hugh Charles to help the progress of the island.”
The Former College President talked about the Nevis Reformation party taking back the reins of government. He mentioned that the “challenges Nevis is now facing will come to an end as soon as the Nevis Reformation Party is returned to government and rescues the ship that is set adrift in a sea of corruption and bad mind”.
He asked the attentive audience, “Where is the one million dollars for education promised by Deputy Premier, Mark Brantley in his 2013 campaign? What happened to the financial assistance of the J.W Parry administration to get Nevisian students into University?”
Daly concluded, “It is a shame when education progress is a coat of paint at the Charlestown Secondary School every other year but I am not surprised, when Amory could not spare paper and a few drops of ink to reply to my request on Nevisian students receiving assistance for the boat fee to St.Kitts to attend classes at CFBC!”
