Nationals of the federation are in a state of shock as the news spread on Sunday, that the former Governor of St. Kitts and Nevis Sir Probyn Inniss passed away at the Joseph N France General Hospital last night.
St Kitts and Nevis has lost an icon, a distinguished public servant, lawyer, author, historian and outstanding statesman… The 80 year old Sir Probyn Ellsworth Inniss MBE (born 18 November 1936) was the Governor of Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla from 1975 to 1980, and then, following the secession of Anguilla, the Governor of Saint Christopher and Nevis from 1980 to 1981. Meanwhile Freedom F spoke to St. Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris on Monday, who paid fitting tribute to the legacy of Sir Probyn. Dr Harris revealed that he had met with the family and extended sincere condolences on behalf of the government and people of St. Kitts-Nevis.
Dr Harris further indicated that a state funeral was being planned in collaboration with Lady Inniss and family, and that flags in the Federation were being flown at half mast because of the death of this great national, the late Sir Probyn Inniss.
The Chairperson of the St Kitts Nevis Labour Party Marcella Liburd spoke to Freedom Fm on Monday and spoke glowingly on the life of Sir Probyn Inniss.
Freedom Fm extends sincere condolences to his family.
