Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis and Minister with responsibility for education, Hon Shawn K Richards, on Monday afternoon provided the audience of Freedom Fm’s popular “Issues” programme with an update on the reopening of the Basseterre High School.
Minister Richards said that he had been in attendance at the opening General Assembly of the Basseterre High School on Monday morning. He spoke of the obvious enthusiasm on the faces of the young students who were happy to be back at school.
Following the Assembly, Minister Richards toured the various sites that were allocated to house the students and staff of the school on a temporary basis. He explained that although there were some minor problems at some of the sites, he expected everything to be in place by Tuesday morning when classes start.
When asked about transportation for the staff of the school from one site to the other, the Minister revealed that a bus has been donated to the Ministry of Education by Mr Frankly Tyson. Richards expressed gratitude to Mr Tyson and explained that the bus was designated to transport the staff to and from the various points.
He called on the staff, students and parents to be patient as the situation is temporary.
