The Meteorological Service says its expecting eleven tropical storms for the 2015 Hurricane Season.
This season, which began yesterday, will see one less storm than the annual average.
The Met Service says of that number, half could become hurricanes with two to three reaching category three or higher.
Head of the Weather Branch at the Met Service, Evan Thompson, is warning Jamaicans that although this season is set to be less intense, hurricane preparedness is still important.
And Mr. Thompson says rainfall for the next few months is likely to be adversely affected by the El Nino phenomenon.
