The town of Sandy Point will soon come alive as the nation’s premiere community festival is fast approaching and the organizers are working tirelessly to make sure that this year’s festival, like the others before, will be one to remember. The dates and events are set, the theme has already been chosen for this exciting cultural explosion.
This year, the sixth (6th) edition of Black San’ will carry the theme ‘Leh we Go!’ which is encouraging everyone in St Kitts and Nevis to bring their whole family to celebrate and have a great time. Treasa Wyatt, who is the chairperson of this year’s celebrations said that the festival promises to “bring fun can’t done to the entire family with a few surprises up our sleeve.”
“Black San’ is fun, and this is why people really look forward to attend each year. It encourages togetherness and community spirit. We have had people coming up to us since last year, asking about the festival and the wait is no more.” said Wyatt.
The date of the festival is set for March 19th to April 2nd to account for the early Easter break. Events for this year’s Black San’ Bang-A-Lang include the Opening Ceremony, Elderly outing, the very popular Tractorcade, Knockshore night, J’ouvert morning jam, the highly anticipated Miss Black San’ Swimsuit pageant, Basketball competition, Street Football, Parade and Last Lap and Family Carnival.
The organizing body, SPIRIT, after much consideration has decided to replace the thrilling Game Show night; with the reintroduction of the Family Carnival. This was done after consultations with the public showed that they wanted something different; however still promoting family participation and togetherness.
The organizers will like to say a special thank you to all of the sponsors who have already signed on to assist with the staging of this year’s celebrations. Black San’ Bang-A-Lang has been a success throughout the years because of businesses and individuals who have lend assistance.
“We have some great and thoughtful sponsors who have been assisting us for the past six (6) years, some have already signed on to help this year. Sponsors are the ones who make our festival a success and we are grateful for them” explained Chairwoman Wyatt. The committee is inviting other businesses or individuals who will like to come on board to contact them at 869-661-4846.
