Chairperson of the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party and Parliamentary representative for constituency #2, the Honorable Marcella Liburd says the SKNLP will be marching against what she terms a lack of transparency and good governance by the Team Unity Government, which has led to oppression and victimization of nationals of St. Kitts Nevis.
Liburd highlighted a number of areas including the land for debt swap referred to as the biggest theft of the people’s patrimony by Team Unity, Liburd said the government had gone silent on this matter and that this was part of the deception.
Liburd said the appointment by the commissioner of police Ian Queeley on a probationary basis, was part of the deception to appoint an overseas non national to that position.
Liburd said the continued harassment and victimization of public servants perceived to be against the Team Unity Government was wrong. She said over 150 persons had been dismissed, demoted or marginalized by the government.
Other areas highlighted by the member of parliament for constituency #2 were the SIDF, The Public Accounts Committee, Team Unity’s Legislative Agenda which she claimed have not benefited the small man.
Liburd took issue with the payment of 2 salaries and allowances paid to Amory and Brantley for doing a part time job.
She further stressed that in 1 year Minister of Labor Vance Amory has not visited the Industrial Site, where there are many cases of conflict and disputes.
Marriott workers are also frustrated and the ordinary workers facing increasing taxes mean the time has come to march against the Team Unity Government.
The chairpserson said the SKNLP had written to the police authorities to hold a public meeting on the 18th February and a march and demonstration on the 19th of February.
