Terrence Drew+Marcella Liburd-1Member of Parliament for Constituency #2 the Honorable Marcella Liburd is asking the Team Unity Government to provide answers on the practice of having MRI’s done at the Monkey Farm then sending the imaged overseas to get the report.

Liburd says there are two qualified radiologists in Dr Ermin Clarke and Dr Mark Hodge, here in SKN and is calling on Minister of Health Eugene Hamilton and Minister of State Wendy Phipps to provide answers to the public on this practice by the Ministry of Health.

The Chairperson of the SKNLP is also asking the Team Unity Government to provide answers to the fact that the John Gumbs building was purchased by the government with taxpayer’s money, yet a private bar is being operated in the building on Bank Street.

Liburd says the normal practice with government buildings is to go through a bidding process. Liburd emphasized that in this case, there was no bidding and says the public has the right to know who owns and operates the bar on government property; Liburd reiterated that the Public Accounts Committee would have had such information to release to the public.

Meanwhile SKNLP representative for Constituency #8 Dr Terrance Drew is calling for economic justice for BAICO policy holders who lost their deposits when the company collapsed in 2009.

Earlier this year attorney General & Minister of Information Vincent “Juicy” Byron said the Team Unity Government was looking at draft legislation designed to provide payment to those policy holders whose claims have not been settled.

Drew said he shared the comments of the ECCB Governor Timothy Antoine who called for criminal investigation of those involved in the collapse of CLICO Life Insurance Company.

Dr Drew further highlighted the role of the opposition in pointing out any wrong doing in government and being accountable by providing the right information on matters such as PEP, victimization, BHS, and monies spent on security for Prime Minister Harris’ private property.
