The residents of Stadium View and Bourkes Projects in Sandy Point were awakened to what sounded like gun shots being fired in the area. That’s according to KYSS FM radio station owner A.U. Brown, who told Freedom Fm on Wednesday that at the time of the barrage of shots, his initial investigation did not reveal him or his property as the target.
“I was up at the time when the first of the five shots were fired. I can’t say if anyone was struck, injured, or killed. Curious and obviously terrified neighbors came out of their homes and into their porches, while others peeped out their windows.”, Browne told Freedom Fm in an exclusive interview.
However sometime after 8 am Wednesday, while his wife was attempting to get into the family car, bullets were discovered in the car and the police was called arriving some 15 minutes after the call was made. Browne said 2 additional bullets were found near the entrance to the front door and in the ceiling of his house.
“ I was the target as two bullets hit one of my vehicles parked in the carport and another two struck my two story house. I believe the team unity government is behind this attack on my life and property. It was only last Friday I was told someone said I had died. It seems that because of my criticism of the Timothy Harris government there is a plot to kill me. This cowardly act can only be described as democracy under threat, by a dictatorship in the making.”
The radio host of the popular morning commentary “Whats Hot”, has used that platform to inform and educate listeners about developments happening in the country, and is seen by many to be a critic of the Team Unity government.
The police have been notified of the incident that occurred at about 12:45AM, Wednesday October 14 and are conducting investigations into this shooting incident.
St. Kitts and Nevis has been plagued by gun violence in recent years. So far this year 24 persons have been murdered and PM Harris at his monthly press conference informed the country that the FBI will be coming to St Kitts-Nevis shortly to provide technical support to the police force.
