Freedom Fm continued its new bi-weekly talk show “Nation Builders” on Friday 23rd February with a pioneer in the field of education Dr Eustace Esdaille. Born in St Pauls, St Kitts and growing up in Sandy Point, Dr Esdaille pointed out that his early influences were his family, the church and education which were critical to his development.
Dr Esdaille and then praised the contribution of the late Clarence Fitzroy Bryant and the SKNLP in bringing comprehensive education to St Kitts-Nevis and leveling the playing field for poor, disadvantaged youths in St Kitts.
Esdaille said there was a push back against comprehensive education by certain segments in the society. Dr Esdaille looked at the political economy of SKN which he said has transitioned from King Sugar to tourism but maintained there is a dire necessity to forge dynamic and sustainable links between tourism and education to reduce our huge food import bill.
