With Nevis’ local election constitutionally due in 2018, but anticipated later this year, the question of accountability and good governance was posed to the Nevis Reformation Party youthful candidates Cory Tyson and Virgil Browne on Freedom Fm’s popular issues program on Tuesday.
Specifically the fact that during a government’s tenure in office programs and projects never seem to get done until the date for fresh elections approaches.
Reference was made to the CCM projects currently being undertaken in Nevis as the deadline for elections looms closer and closer.
Nevisians are seeing projects in roads, housing construction, infrastructure and the latest ongoing work at the Gingerland Secondary School. The question of carrying out the people’s mandate and rolling out plans and programs was put to both NRP candidates Tyson and Browne.
Tyson said there must be full respect and accountability in the management of the people’s affairs, while Browne indicated that the proper planning, budgeting and completion of projects would serve in the best interests of the people.
