Deputy leader of the Nevis Reformation Party told an “Issues” audience on Tuesday that once elected to Government in upcoming Nevis elections, his party would provide ample opportunities for young people in skills training and jobs.
Daniel said this would allow Nevisian youths to look away from crime, raise their self esteem and an opportunity to earn an income, Daniel indicated that as a politician he has the obligation to raise the consciousness of young people and be proactive in equipping young Nevisians to chart their own destiny.
The Former Deputy Premier explained that he has been at the forefront of youth skills training, and that in the previous NRP Administration he had assisted young people in completing essential skills and trades training in Trinidad. Meanwhile NRP Deputy Leader Hensley Daniel told a Freedom Fm audience on Tuesday that the decriminalization and legalization of marijuana would be actively pursued by an NRP Government in Nevis.
Contrary to what Premier Vance Amory and Deputy Premier Mark Brantley are saying about marijuana, that it has to be pursued at the Federal level pointing out the ineffectiveness of the NIA to legislate on marijuana, Daniel pointed out that the NRP and the Youth in Nevis “are supportive of the marijuana issue”, and that an NRP Administration will find a way to enact such legislation. Daniel called on the general public to believe in what the NRP is saying it would do to decriminalize marijuana and look towards creating a marijuana industry.
Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris told a town hall meeting in East Basseterre Tuesday night, that it was the Federal government that could enact marijuana legislation but that they were not moving in that direction right now.
