Konris+Marcella+Denzil-1Members of the federal opposition are commenting on the recently announced local and over seas appointees.

Guests on Freedom Fm’s popular talk show Issues were leader of the opposition Dr Denzil Douglas, chair man of the SKNLP Hon Marcella Liburd and the SKNLP representative for constituency number 3, Hon Konris Maynard.

The Hon Marcella Liburd charged the new unity gov with hypocrisy. Liburd said back then Team Unity in opposition castigated the government for making political appointments to Boards , public corporations and overseas embassies. She maintained that the recent appointments made by PM Harris were of people who had been political activists, working as talk show hosts or speaking on the political platforms with Team Unity.

She said there was a paradigm shift to promoting these political activists to boards as a reward for their hard work during the election campaigning.
She explained that many of the appointees has said during the campaign that they were working in the best interest of the country.
Liburd again spoke out against victimisation.

Maynard noted that it is his duty as a member of the opposition to ensure that the government is held accountable.

As the youngest member of parliament Maynard said that he is disappointed that the government has appointed mainly persons who cannot be considered as youth.

Leader of the opposition Dr Denzil Douglas said that the government is being driven to make appointments based on who made contributions during the recent election campaign.
