Former Nevis Premier/Leader of the Nevis’ Reformation Party, Joseph Parry says the relationship between the Nevis’ Island Administration and the federal government needs to be reviewed, as it is adversely affecting Nevisians.
Parry indicated that the vast majority of Nevisians are not benefitting from a relationship and a local government that spends a considerable amount of time in St. Kitts.
Parry explained that NRP officials, who held federal and local seats in the past, were never paid two salaries.
“As far as I am concerned the NRP has demonstrated in the past with Mr Sim Daniel that they did not feel it was workable, from his own experience. In 2000, when I stepped down from the federal parliament.. I was thrown out, I did not lose an election”, Parry asserted. “I stepped down because I said I wanted to focus on Nevis. What does that indicate? It indicates that we have a problem if I were a minister in both Nevis and St. Kitts at the same time”, Parry declared.
Parry pointed out that in the court of public opinion, the federal/local conflict has been reviewed and the NRP has decided not to run on the federal level so that Nevisians an see and feel their Ministers at work in Nevis.
We know what we are doing as we have clearly demonstrated what we are about.
Parry said when Nevisians are looking for Deputy Prime minister Mark Brantley and Premier Vance Amory they have to come to St. Kitts.
