In his New Years address to the nation PM Harris says that 2016 would be a period marked by continued growth, development, continued advancement, and general
improvement in our domestic affairs, and our overall competitive advantage realised through trade, investment, knowledge management and national
productivity. PM Harris explained that the International Monetary Fund has predicted that the St. Kitts and Nevis economy is expected to grow by at least 4.6 percent in 2016. This forecast he says will therefore place the Federation among the best performing economies not just in CARICOM but in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the
wider global community.
Meanwhile, Former Prime Minister the Hon Dr Denzil Douglas says that the sound economic and financial footing left by his labour party administration are being reversed by the Team unity Government led by PM Dr Timothy Harris. Dr. Douglas pointed out in a New Year’s message on Jan 1,that would be investors are leaving the country as no new projects have been started by the TUG.
Opposition Leader Douglas said projects being that would incentivize the small man the entrepreneur are being shut down and dismantled by the government.
