Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said yesterday there is no state of emergency. “There is no State of Emergency” responded Persad-Bissessar when questioned. She was speaking briefly to the media following the opening of Febeau Government Primary School at Saddle road, San Juan.
On Wednesday, Inspector Michael Seales said on TV6 Morning Edition that Government was attempting to provoke the police, so that a State of Emergency could be declared in order to delay the general election.
As a result, Seales, who is the secretary of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association, was suspended “as a result of an allegation of serious misconduct”.
The Prime Minister also kept to her word and refused to answer any questions pertaining to corruption accused leader of the Independent Liberal Party (ILP) Jack Warner.
Persad-Bissessar served notice on Tuesday at a meeting in Debe that she will not be engaging Warner as well as leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM) Dr Keith Rowley in their soap opera.
She said yesterday that all the allegtions and attacks Warner have made against her were in her lawyers’ hands.
“I have nothing further to say with respect to Mr Warner. I will not script his play, I have nothing further to say,” she said when asked a question about whether Warner was fired or resigned in 2013.
