Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 14, 2016 (RSCNPF): The Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is investigating a shooting incident in Sandy Point that has resulted in injuries to Abkin Bryant of Sandy Point , a 23 year old male resident of Cleverly Hill. The shooting occurred at around 2.15am on Sunday (August 14).
Initial investigations revealed that adult male was shot by an unknown assailant(s) along the island main road in Sandy Point resulting in multiple wounds.
He was taken to the Pogson Medical Centre for treatment and then transferred to the Joseph N. France General Hospital.
Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit have canvassed the scene for evidence. One (1) .9mm firearm with a number of matching rounds was found in the area of the scene.
This brings to 20, the number of illegal firearms seized by the Police so far in 2016. A total of 21 illegal firearms were seized in 2015.
