Breast Cancer month is commemorated in the month of October and the Public Relations Officer for the Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Group, Miss Markysa O’Loughlin said the overall objective of her group is to sensitize women and men alike to the fact that early detection of Breast Cancer increases the chances of survival.
O’Loughlin highlighted the fact that her group was conducting free breast cancer checkups Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays at the LIME Super Store on Cayon Street. O’Loughlin said she has used the Breast Cancer platform to raise the Breast Cancer issue among young women in their late 20’s and early 30’s to practice preventative and early detection measures as part of their overall health and wellness.
The Former National Carnival Queen finalist said that the symptoms of Breast Cancer should lead that individual to seek medical attention. She said we should watch what we eat.
O’Loughlin said the Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Group performs a twofold support link for both survivors and those who now carry the disease.
She said Breast Cancer was no longer a killer and the group offers guidance, support and at times, funds to assist its members.
She singled out the leader of the group, Miss Agnes Farrell for her dynamic leadership.
